Mr. Bonham's technical background gives him expertise in numerous fields, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, bioengineering, molecular biology, electrochemistry, semiconductor processing, polymer chemistry and industrial chemicals including petrochemicals. With this technical background and his legal experience, Mr. Bonham provides a wide variety of client services, including patent portfolio strategic development, management and evaluation, invalidity and non-infringement opinions, patent application drafting and prosecution, patent licensing, and patent litigation support.
Mr. Bonham began his law career in 1989 with the intellectual property law firm of Kenyon & Kenyon, where he became an associate in 1993. While at Kenyon & Kenyon, Mr. Bonham performed numerous clearance studies and drafted many opinions for clients introducing new products. In this capacity, he drafted an ongoing series of opinions for a major generic pharmaceutical manufacturer in connection with its various product introductions.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Bonham worked as an engineer for ITT in fiber optic manufacturing. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University (1989), where he investigated the use of AC impedance spectroscopy to detect defects in coatings. His doctoral research was directed to electrochemical analysis of defects in semiconductors. In the course of his master's research, he immobilized yeast cells on solid supports for use in bioreactors. Mr. Bonham's research has been published in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Journal, Biotechnology and Bioengineering, and the Journal of the Electrochemical Society.
